Melbourne’s Tamura Sake Bar in partnership with Black Market Sake will be hosting a meet and greet with 3 legendary saké brewers.

All 3 saké makers have a deep dedication for their craft with Mukai Shuzo’s, Kuniko Mukai pushing the boundaries of traditional flavours with experimental heirloom rice varieties (the red rice saké is incredible; almost like a rosé wine).

Moriki Shuzo’s, Rumiko Moriki (who including Kuniko san is one of only a handful of female toji in the world) alongside her husband Hideki Moriki will also be pouring a range unique saké made using incredibly difficult methods, they still use a “wood fired boiler to steam the rice, and wooden vats full of steamed rice are carried on Moriki’s and their workers shoulders”.

Osaka’s tiny Akishika Shuzo headed by owner and toji, Hiroaki Oku has gained cult like status throughout Japan for their incredibly complex and well structures saké. They are to this day one of only a few saké producers who follow the cháteau concept with all of their rice being grown by select local farmers as well as 25% grown directly by the brewery.

The Tamura Sake Bar will have a range of matched snacks to go with the wide range of saké on offer with a pay as you go system and given the events sure to be popularity; we strongly recommend getting there early.
