London-based The Wine & Spirit Education Trust, or WSET, is the worlds foremost educational body in the field of wine and spirits. Deja Vu Sake Co will be holding their WSET Level 1 Award in Sake course on March the 20th this year at Greek Door in Balmain.
This course will assist those who are new to the subject, this qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the world of sake. You’ll explore the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavours and aromas.
What you’ll learn:
- The basic principles of sake production
- The main types and styles of sake
- How to serve sake
- Factors affecting the flavour of sake
- How to describe sake using the WSET level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Sake® (SAT)
Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

About Yukino Ochiai
Director of Deja vu Sake Company, Sake Samurai, WSET Level 3 Japanese Sake educator, and Kikizakeshi.
Awarded the title of Sake Samurai in 2017, the highest honour in the Sake industry. Yukino is only the third Australian to receive this distinction. She is also an educator, Kikisake-shi (Sake specialist) and IWC Sake Judge.
