London-based The Wine & Spirit Education Trust, or WSET, is the worlds foremost educational body in the field of wine and spirits. Prince Wine Store will be holding their WSET Level 3 Award in Sake course from May the 13th until May the 16th (all four days are required for attendance) this year at their South Melbourne Store.

The WSET Level 3 Award in Sake is an official industry accreditation, with the course spanning over 9:00AM to 5:00PM on both the 13th and the 14th of May and 9:00AM – 1:00PM on the 15th and 9:30AM – 1:30PM on the 16th. Note that students will also need to complete an online study program over the two weeks immediately prior to the classroom dates commencing. The course content blurb notes its target demographic:

This course will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of sakes with regards to their quality and commercial value. The course provides in-depth product knowledge required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in product selection in the retail and hospitality sectors. It is also a course suitable to keen amateurs wishing to explore the world of Sake.

The curriculum will cover the divisions between sake categories, important factors regarding sake style, quality and value, both a general and commercial viewpoint of the sake industry and its export markets, storage, selection and service guidelines and general tasting principles (see event page for a comprehensive list).

It is a requirement of the course that the WSET specifications document, available online, is read before enrollment.
