Free Sake and Food Pairing Seminar with special guest, Marie Chiba

40 people only. Register by Wed 17 Jan

On Wednesday 24th January, 2024, Sydney will play host to a one-off educational sake seminar with special guest Marie Chiba, from EUREKA! Sake Bar in Tokyo.

We are excited to be bringing the very talented and knowledgeable Marie Chiba to Sydney for this special event, and for her very first time in Australia.

Marie Chiba is a Sake Sommelier, Sake Samurai and the owner/operator of possibly the hippest sake bar in Tokyo, EUREKA!.

Some of you may know her from her days at the much loved GEM by Moto, where she worked and wowed customers with curious and delicious sake and food pairings for several years, gaining somewhat of a cult following. Chiba had a vision of opening her own place to further introduce and educate people about the diverse (and delicious) pairing potential of Japanese sake!

EUREKA! opened its doors in late 2022 and ever since, has been buzzing with excitement from sake lovers, who visit from all over the world to enjoy her wonderful pairings and her incredible passion for what she does.

Joining Marie in presenting this seminar will be Simone Maynard.

Simone is a Melbourne based Sake Educator & Consultant, Sake Samurai, Sake Sommelier and founder of Sake Mistress. She is also the founder and host of the online project, Taste with the Toji, and the host of TWTT – The Podcast.

Maynard has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry and has a long-term love of Japanese sake and culture. She has been travelling to Japan regularly since 2003.

She recently joined the team at the Australian Sake Festival and is also a senior judge for the Australian Sake Awards.

During this seminar, Marie and Simone will discuss the diversity of Japanese sake. They will touch on some of the basics and give some tips on how to get the most out of any sake experience, as well as discussing sake’s broad food pairing appeal and potential.

Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a guided sake tasting. There will also be a food pairing component to this event, curated by Marie Chiba.

(Please note: specific dietary requirements cannot be catered for during this event)

We are delighted to be able to invite you to what is sure to be a most insightful and informative seminar.

This is a free seminar that is open to anyone with a keen interest in learning more about Japanese sake!

We encourage you to join us and take advantage of this unique opportunity to hear from Marie and Simone and learn more about the diverse world of Japanese sake.
